GENRE EVOLUTION
Rock/Pop leads cover production, being responsible for almost half of all the covers, even though it entered the music business almost late, during the 1950s. Here we explore the stake of each genre in terms of cover production per year.
COVER TRACES
In the course of the 20th century the single music genres had differing activity levels, ranging from only few years of high production to all century long activity. Here we can see the most active period for each genre.
CONNECTING DOTS
Listing the most influential titles generated by a genre in connection with the corresponding production periods. Can a genre’s cover production be linked to a specific originating decade?
TOP 10: MOST INFLUENT SONGS
“Yesterday” by The Beatles is the most covered song with 123 covers. Having its origin in Rock/Pop, it has been transformed by artists with different musical backgrounds.
