ABOUT PROJECT This interactive experience is a part of the project (Phase 3) developed within the Final Synthesis Design Studio of the Communication Design Faculty at Politecnico di Milano. It is an over populated & technologically advanced metropolis in China. This research aims to analyze and engage the western public about complex and controversial social issues of facial recognition through the analysis of data contents being applied on City X. In Phase 2 of this project, the findings demonstrated that in western countries, such as the United States and Italy, Privacy is the most important consideration. While in eastern countries, such as China, Convenience is the word they talked most about in face recognition. It is curious to know why people in China thinks of convenience regarding face recognition applications, and why such devices are becoming so popular in China day by day. China is the world's most populous country with 1.392 billion people, compared with 327 million in the United States and 144.5 million in Russia. A huge population of 18.20% might be one of the reasons that people in China need advanced technologies like facial recognition in their daily life, for efficiency. There might be other reasons too. In this Phase 3 , we designed a behavioral map of a person's daily activity line to show normal scenarios/applications of facial recognition devices being applied in China’s City X. Also, we collected media articles from Baidu and personal comments from Weibo of different attitudes towards this issue. This phase will help us to record responses of western people’s attitude and their perception towards facial recognition applications on daily activity basis. Are you going to embrace it? Or counteract it? Discover Phase 2 here! 1.392 Billion 327 Million 144.5 Million 18.20% 1.92% 4.29% World Population Share Population
