FROZEN ELSA

One character, billions of facets

Frozen’s Elsa was the first cartoon character exploited on YouTube with the purpose of attracting viewers. Her first successful appearance is dated 30 August 2014, in a video titled “Disney Princess Dolls Goes on a Date!”, published by Sandaroo Kids.
The footage showcases Elsa as a Barbie, together with Ken and Spiderman dolls acting strangely, with veiled sexual references. Since its great success, more and more videos were published shortly after, using the same characters, but experimenting with various media and scenarios.

Dressed-up videos were one of the most successful formats, where adult actors wear cartoon costumes and act inappropriately. Along with these creepy acting videos, also other violent contents started to appear in videos addressed to Elsa’s fans.

This episode, starting from the original Frozen Disney cartoon, aims to show some of the great variety of representations that Elsa originated. Not only dolls stories and costumed adult actors, but also videogame distortions, two-dimensional and three-dimensional animations, alterations of the original scenes, live gaming sections and claymations.
Elsa has been transformed to be fitted in various formats, to intrigue its little passionate viewers and to make each content a possible YouTube success.
