For the last two years Amazon has been thriving selling products closely related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We’re gonna call these products covid objects.
Analysing the covid objects from 17 Amazon marketplaces around the world, during November and December 2021, we discovered many of them to be practically souvenirs from the past two years, conveying ideas, trends, and opinions about the pandemic in all its aspects.
Opinions are often polarised, and sometimes similar covid products convey opposite messages through the same visual elements.
These are just a few of the communication patterns we found.
In the catalogue you will find covid souvenirs grouped in many different collections, defined either by a
recurring visual element or the message conveyed.
We hope that by exploring the catalogue you will recognise and find new communications patterns, tied to the many different ways we experience this (post?) pandemic world.
