Online censorship consists of the control or the removal of certain contents. It exists because some governments and platforms want to regulate the users’ behaviour online. In particular, the latter’s policies are becoming more and more numerous and specific as the number of users and the production of visual content grow exponentially, resulting in the spread of the phenomenon. The more online censorship involves the users, the more it obtains relevance, becoming one of the most discussed topics on the internet. The complexity of this practice has been analyzed on different levels of interpretation and online platforms through research that led to the identification of an interesting aspect: the self-censorship of images on Instagram. Instagram is one of the most used social platforms online: it is not only a tool to connect people and establish new digital relationships, but it developed so much that it has become a real professional tool for some users.
