If you type “dating scam” on Google, what kind of results will appear? We examined which countries mention scamming in 5 different languages.
Main Findings
The US appears the most out of any other; it is the country within which discussions about dating scams are the most frequent.
The second most mentioned country is Japan, with the highest search rate via Google Japan.
Australia comes in third place with 28 mentions.
As expected with the way Google works—giving local results higher priority—, when searching for “dating scam” in a country’s official language the country itself will appear in the results the most.
14 countries, half of which happen to be in Europe, were mentioned only once overall.
