We collected a number of profile pictures of users from 10 dating apps and analyzed them in order to understand which types of pictures are the most representative of the appsâ userbases.
Main Findings
Zoosk is the app where the most reliable images are. The most common type of images on the app is Selfies for both females and males; a good number of portraits show the face of the user. The reliability of this appâas well as others like Happn, Bumble and Mambaârevolves around the fact that there are no images of the Snapchat filter or Other categories which donât show the face of the user.
All types of image categories were found on Tinder in near-equal amounts, which not only shows the variety of types of images and users but also this application is not very reliable because of the presence of âsnapchat filterâ and âotherâ categories.
The same goes for Grindr, where a good number of images is found under the Other category, meaning there are many random images of landscapes, illustrations and other subjects that do not show the face of the user, which makes the app unreliable.
