Description
After the analysis of the debates, we focused our attention on nuclear reactors. We wanted to see, in the past two years, the interest of people on reactors. Analysing the research trends we noticed that China and USA had two peaks period in common.
One peak ( April 24 to 30 2016 ) was related to the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster and a second one ( February 5 to 11 2017 ) was related to the new fuel leaks discovered at Fukushima after a new inspection of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Reactor.
USA has another peak related to the Chernobyl disaster anniversary also for 2017. China has other two peaks related to national reactors: the new Hualong One Nuclear Reactor construction at the beginning of August 2016 and the final stage of performance testing in Zhejiang Sanmen Power Station on December 2016.
We decided after this research to analyse the two common peaks date to see the behaviors of these two country about these two events.
Protocol
We used Google Trends for Usa and Baidu Index for China to find the trend of the research for the query “Nuclear Reactor”. We analysed the two graphs result and found the peaks in common for the two countries. We searched both on Google News and Baidu News to find news related to the peaks period and we made the visualization.

Download data
Google Trends and Baidu Index let you download data about the trend of the research for a specific query. We collected the data from Jen 2016 to Nov 2017 in all United States and all China. Google Trends with the 100 value identify the time when there was the highest frequency of research, 50 is the half of the research and 0 a trend of research less than 1%.
Baidu Index has different kind of values, it shows the total number of the research per period of time.
