Exploring the Web personalization

Protocol

Introduction

It was made a Wikipedia search about the Web Personalization, going to find the related pages: Relevance Paradox, Digital Footprint, Personalized Search, Personalization and Information Filtering System.
After that we looked for all the “see also” link in those pages, and together with the main five we extracted 2975 links with Seealsology.
Then we put it all in Gephi creating a map with all those 2975 nodes. Hereafter, the map was divided into 4 clusters, to analyze different aspects embraced by the theme: Society (real and virtual), Internet Marketing, Data Processing, Privacy and Control.
In conclusion, we’ve defined 5 declination of the query to add to Web Personalization that are Serendipity, Ethics, Diversity, Recommended System Relevance and Knowledge.
Then were made two graphs:
- The first one in Gephi represents the main areas involved in the topic of web personalization with the 2975 nodes.
- The second one shows the four principal clusters, issue from the Gephi map and the the main nodes for everyone.
After that we analyzed the history of the changes of the pages Personalization and Personalized search, and through wiki history flow, we analyzed tham and extracted the paragraph that was important for us.
