Card Stacking is when an unfair advantage is given to one point of view while weakening the other. Given two alternatives, the propagandist pretends to provide concrete examples to convince the audience that one option is better. The information may be presented out of context and important facts can be obscured.
Sometimes to persuade some kind of audience is necessary to create an unfair advantage. This is given to one point of view while weakening the other side. Building an overwhelming case on one side of an issue while concealing another side is called Card stacking. In these tactics, the other side may not even be recognized, or it might be downgraded and denigrated.
In this way, the audience put the focus on only one version of the story. It’s one of the most used technique in advertising: for example, if a snack food is loaded with sugar, the commercial could claims that the product is low in fat, showing to the audience only a part of the complete picture.
[IMG BELOW]It’s easy to find memes that compare different things taking a particular case as a universal case, for example, to claim the superiority of Tupac’s lyrics.
