Description

In this chapter, we would like to analyze the issues from the general trend: whether China and United States are concerned about the issue of climate change, when they are talking about climate change, which region has the highest degree of attention to climate change.

In this section, we would like to study the trend of the searching on climate change in both Chinese search engine and American search engine. We have two terms for this part: Climate Change and Global Warming, because many people confuse these two terms, and they are closely related. Our dataset is from 2012 to the present.

From the chart we can see that in most of the time, Chinese searching index and American searching index are positively related. It means in most of the time China and America are influenced by the same events which drive them to care about climate change issues. The line for global warming fluctuates strongly, proving that it is heavily influenced by emergencies.

Protocol

Get into the online digital methods and input the keywords “Climate Change”, “Global Warming”, export the searching trend data from 2012 to 2016 in CSV format. In Baidu index we can not download the original data, so we just collect the data manually.

Use ChartJS/Illustrator to visualize the data. We choose the chart that can best represents the data which changes over time-line chart.

Data

This chart as a supplement to the line graph, reflects the differences in the degree of searching between the two countries. And there were some important news when the search degree reaches a peak.
