Deep Web and Tor Browser imaginary

Introduction

As a final step, it was decided to analyze the thumbnails of the video to give further evidence on the behavior of YouTube users and to have a vision about the imagery of these when it comes to Deep Web and Tor Browser.

How to read the visualization

The two graphs show datas about the corresponding queries. Different symbols illustrate different typologies of image and thanks to the color variation it has been possible to combine it with the typology of the corresponding video.

How it has been done

We collected thumbnails of the first 100 videos selected from the two queries to create a pattern of images. We divided the images by typologies and then we associated them with symbols: photo (square), photo+graphic (triangle), screenshot (star), graphic (circle). The color allowed us to distinguish the video typology which are associated with the corresponding “cover images”.

Findings

Once again, the query Deep Web shows very varied results as opposed to Tor Browser which has a prevalence of tutorials and screenshots. Deep web shows much more graphic and processed images, a demonstration that people are more active also in the visual imaginary creation. Further evidence that users of Youtube are informed about the meaning of the two terms to which associate a particular visual imagery.
